Filmmaker Sosena Solomon, a past faculty fellow at CEE, is premiering all 12 of the films from the Met’s African Landmark Series on Sunday, March 29, from 1:00–5:00 PM at Rainey Auditorium. Following the screening, she’ll be hosting a panel discussion with Imani Roach, Curatorial Director at the Brind Center for African and African Diasporic Art at the PMA, and Monique Scott, Professor of History of Art and Director of Museum Studies at Bryn Mawr College, moderated by James Claiborne.

Solomon, an award-winning Ethiopian-American social documentary filmmaker and multimedia artist, explores culture, identity, and communities in transition through immersive storytelling. She creates films that foreground personal narratives and illuminate the complexities of lived experience across sub-Saharan Africa and the global diaspora. She is a lecturer in Cinema and Media Studies at the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, in the Fine Arts Department at Penn’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design, and at Community College of Philadelphia.
