Rambisayi Marufu (she/her) was born and raised in Zimbabwe and currently lives in London. She is a massage, reflexology and reiki practitioner and curator. Rambisayi is a CHASE (AHRC) funded PhD candidate at Goldsmiths College, London. Her practice-based PhD locates African Diasporic hair salons in London as intimate sites of Black feminist world-making and re-orientation. Rambisayi's practice is multi-modal, and brings together healing practices, sound, and image to curate spaces of ceremony and ritual. Rambisayi has collaborated across community, university, and museum spaces.
In 2022, her installation "Intimate Archives" was on display at the Horniman Museum and Gardens. Most recently, Rambisayi shared an offering at the bell hooks Symposium at Berea College, Kentucky, USA. In May 2023, her 16mm film 'Archival Encounters' was screened at San Mei Gallery, London. In February 2023, Rambisayi presented her work at the African, African American and Diaspora Interdisciplinary Conference at James Madison University, Virginia, USA
In 2023, following her installation at the Horniman Museum, Rambisayi was awarded a British Arts Council grant [Developing Your Creative Practice] to explore ‘quieter’ forms of repatriation in relation to colonially acquired photo-archives in museum collections.
